The story of LOS40 100.1 (Coatzacoalcos)

100.1 LOS40 (XHNE-FM) is the pop station in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, broadcasting today on 100.1 FM with the Los 40 format from Radiópolis.

XHNE received its concession on October 5, 1979, and was owned by Rosa María Baptista y van der Elst. In April 1994, it was sold to ACIR, its power was raised to 52 kW, and it adopted La Comadre, a Regional Mexican format it would keep for the next 28 years.

Effective June 28, 2022, Grupo ACIR shut down XHNE-FM and XHOM-FM, taking XHNE off the air after 43 years; the closure of the cluster cost 17 jobs. That same week, XHDQ-FM in San Andrés Tuxtla was also closed.

On November 21 of that year, under new operators, XHNE and its sister station XHOM-FM 107.5 returned to the air, with XHNE using the Los 40 pop brand, a format that had been on XHGB-FM 103.5 until 2017. In 2024, Coatza Top became the concessionaire.
