History
The story of LA PODEROSA 89.5 (Nogales)
La Poderosa 89.5 (XHCG-FM, alongside sister signal XECG on 1240 AM) is a station in Nogales, Sonora, broadcasting a regional Mexican format and owned by Grupo Radiorama.
XECG received its concession on February 15, 1952. Starting at 250 watts, the station raised its power to 500 watts in the 1980s and 1,000 watts by the 2000s.
In 2018, XECG ditched its romantic format for the Grupo Radiorama (Pereda Gómez) @FM pop format. That would be the last format under Grupo Larsa Comunicaciones management, as Radiovisa took over XHCG and XHHN-FM when the FM frequencies signed on in November 2018, instituting new formats. On July 7, 2019, ISA Medios, an outdoor advertising company that had entered broadcasting in Ciudad Obregón the previous month, assumed operations of XHCG and XHHN-FM 89.9, immediately flipping XHCG to the La Ke Buena format from Radiópolis. The station reverted to Radiorama control until January 1, 2022.
