The story of LA MEJOR FM 92.7 (Querétaro)
La Mejor FM 92.7 (XHXE-FM) is a radio station in Querétaro, Querétaro, Mexico, carrying the La Mejor national regional Mexican format from MVS Radio.
The station's history began as XEXE-AM 1490, which came to air in 1966 as "Radio Hits", affiliated with the then-new Grupo ACIR. The concession had been awarded in November 1964 to María Gloria Leticia Ávila y Vizcarra, and the station was operated by Carlos Caballero. It was the city's fourth station and carried a wide-ranging music format, plus one of Querétaro's earliest radio newscasts.
After a brief stint as Radio Capital from 1978 to 1980, ACIR returned that year as "XEXE Radio ACIR 1490", broadcasting 24 hours a day. In 1989, the station broke from ACIR, moved to new facilities and became "Radio Hit 1490 AM", pioneering live broadcasts of lucha libre from the Arena Querétaro. In 1994 it increased power to 2.5 kW, and on February 25, 1995, it moved to 1090 AM with a grupera format.
In 1997, the station was leased again and became Radio Fórmula's outlet in Querétaro. The FM station launched in May 2011. On October 1, 2012, it broke from Radio Fórmula and became Integra 92siete. On October 1, 2016, it became Kiss FM under a marketing agreement with Multimundo, which took over operations from Integra, the group run by the Caballero Ávila family. Kiss FM flipped to grupera as La Mejor on September 1, 2020.
