History
The story of LA MAGNÍFICA 95.5 (Puebla)
La Magnífica 95.5 (XHZT-FM) is a station in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico, broadcasting grupera music on 95.5 FM. It is owned by Tribuna Comunicación.
The station traces its roots to XEZT-AM 1250, which received its concession on November 26, 1970 and was owned by Juan Bautista Ponce de León Terán; it was sold to the current concessionaire in 1976.
On July 14, 2017, the IFT approved migrating XEZT to FM as XHZT-FM 95.5, but the station did not pay the migration fee, and the frequency was awarded to XEHIT-AM, which signed on as XHHIT-FM in November 2018. Until 2018, XEZT carried the La Mejor grupera format from MVS Radio; it left the network in September 2018 but returned to grupera as La Magnífica in October 2019.
It later emerged that an IFT error caused Tribuna Comunicación to underpay the migration fee, an error also made in the migration of XEEG-AM 1280. Tribuna sued the IFT and won a court order making 95.5 available for its use. In 2020, XHHIT-FM was moved to 105.5 MHz in compliance with the order, and on November 24, 2021, La Magnífica launched on FM.
