The story of LA LUPE 104.9 (San Luis Potosí)
LA LUPE 104.9 (XHCZ-FM) broadcasts from San Luis Potosí with the La Lupe Spanish variety hits format. The station is owned by Multimedios Radio.
The station's origins trace back to XECZ-AM, which began operations in 1934 and received its full concession in 1944, making it the first radio station to operate in San Luis Potosí. It was owned by Zeferino Zaragoza Jiménez and broadcast on 1430 kHz, soon moving to 960.
In 1950, ownership passed to Radiodifusoras Mexicanas, S.A., and in 1999, then owned by GAPE, it was sold to OEM. In 2011, XECZ was selected to migrate to FM, and XHCZ-FM 104.9 began operations on April 5, 2012.
On December 1, 2020, ABC Radio ceased operations in San Luis Potosí and Multimedios Radio began operating the station with the "La Lupe" Spanish adult hits format. The concession transfer was announced by the Federal Telecommunications Institute on August 18, 2021, which also approved relocating XHCZ from its city center site to the tower also used by Multimedios station XHSNP-FM.
