104.1 XEVT (Villahermosa)

XHVT-FM is a radio station on 104.1 FM in Villahermosa, Tabasco, known as XEVT, its former AM call sign. It is the oldest radio station in Tabasco.

XEVT-AM 970 began testing on 7 August 1954, when it was the only radio station in the state. It was owned by Aquiles Calderón Marchena and authorized for 5,000 watts by day and 400 at night. The concession was awarded on 14 September, and the next day XEVT was formally inaugurated by Governor Manuel Bartlett Bautista, at a time when the state government was modernizing Tabasco.

On 16 March 1955, a group tried to use the station to broadcast messages fomenting unrest; when staff refused, they attempted to enter by force. One person died and much of the new equipment was destroyed, with broadcasts resuming the next month. In the late 1950s, Tabasco native Manuel López Ochoa began his creative career as an announcer at XEVT.

The station changed hands and names often: originally "La Voz de Tabasco", it later became "Radio Fiesta", "Súper Variedades" and for a time Stereorey. In 1978 the concession was transferred to Radio Sureste, S.A.; in the 1980s it came under the management of Radio S.A.; and in 1999 it was sold to the Sibilla family, headed by Jesús Antonio Sibilla Zurita, who had been associated with XEVT since the late 1950s through its main news program, Telereportaje. The family relaunched XEVT as a full-service station with news and talk. On 31 July 2000, the concession transferred to Jasz Radio, and on 4 June 2010 the station was approved to migrate to FM, becoming XHVT-FM 104.1.
