The story of 101.7 Soy FM (Coatzacoalcos)
XHTD-FM is a radio station on 101.7 FM in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. It is owned by Grupo Radio Digital and carries a pop format known as Soy FM.
The station received its concession on September 27, 1979, and was owned by Octavio Tena Álvarez del Castillo. On May 15, 1986, it was sold to Frecuencia Modulada de Coatzacoalcos, S.A. de C.V. and became part of Grupo FM. It originally broadcast pop music in Spanish and English as "Más FM". In 1999, it adopted the Vox FM brand, the name used on XEX-FM in Mexico City. In 2004, the station joined the Los 40 Principales network, which it left on July 13, 2011; in September it changed to Mar FM, playing classical music in English, a brand used by XHPB-FM in the city of Veracruz.
In late 2015, Grupo FM split into two companies owned by different branches of the same family, Grupo FM and Radio Networks. XHTD went to Radio Networks along with XHFTI-FM in Córdoba and XHRN-FM in Veracruz, adopting the grupera-tropical format known as Más Latina.
In April 2016, the station was sold to Grupo Radio Digital for 71 million pesos (some US$4 million) and flipped to the Exa FM national format; the concessionaire changed to Impulsora de Radio del Sureste, S.A. On May 1, 2021, most of GRD's stations dropped their MVS Radio franchised brands, and XHTD adopted its current name and format.
